About Jake Jenkins
Mission Statement

The aim of the Law Office of Jake Jenkins is to provide a passionate and ethical
defense to individuals charged with offenses relating to either intoxication or
intoxicants.  This defense includes the use of knowledge gained through this
narrow focus to shine in the courtroom.  While courtroom success is important, the
firm’s goal is for that success to extend past the criminal courtrooms and into each
client’s life as the firm provides a personalized representation.

Biography

Jake Jenkins was born in Fort Worth but was raised on a cattle ranch near
Brownwood, Texas.   After graduating from Early High School,  Jake attended the
University of Texas at Austin.  He graduated with a double major in Government and
Economics.    It was while attending UT Austin that he got his first taste of the legal
world working for the Texas State Senate.

Jake Jenkins then moved to Dallas and decided to continue his education.  He
enrolled in The SMU School of Law and began to focus on criminal defense and trial
work.  Jake participated in on-campus Mock Trial Competitions and was first
introduced to real criminal defense work with the
SMU Criminal Justice Clinic.  In
that program, he represented individuals charge
d with misdemeanors including
DWI.  Jake even got a little bit different perspective on the legal system when he
attended the SMU Law School Summer Program at   University College in Oxford.  
He also clerked with a small criminal defense firm in Dallas his last summer in law
school.    

Upon graduation from law school, Jake decided to focus his energy on DWI
Defense.  For three and a half years, Jake served as the senior associate attorney at
The Coffey Firm.  While working at The Coffey Firm, Jake represented those charged
with DWI and related offenses.  In December of 2003, Jake attended the prestigious
Robert F. Borkenstein Course on Alcohol and Highway Safety: Testing, Research,
and Litigation
.  The Borkenstein Course is required for all breath test technical
supervisors in the State of Texas.  

Jake Jenkins continues to closely follow the future of DWI related legislation and
even spoke before the Texas House of Representatives Committee on Law
Enforcement during the 2005 session.    In 2006, Jake spoke at the public hearings
on the on the proposed ALR rule changes at the State Office of Administrative
Hearings in Austin.

After securing a not guilty verdict in a difficult Tarrant County DWI with a breath test,  
Mr. Jenkins was invited by David Burrows to speak at the DWI Winning Edge
Conference in February of 2008.
